About Our Research
How we evaluate hydrogen therapy claims and what standards we hold ourselves to.
Our Mission
H2Echelon exists to bridge the gap between molecular hydrogen research and consumers. With over 2,000 peer-reviewed studies published on hydrogen therapy since 2007, there is substantial scientific interest in this field — but also substantial misinformation.
We review the primary literature, separate marketing claims from evidence, and present findings in accessible language so you can make informed decisions about hydrogen therapy.
Research Methodology
Every health claim on H2Echelon goes through a structured review process:
- Primary source verification — We trace claims back to peer-reviewed studies indexed on PubMed, not secondary sources or manufacturer materials.
- Study quality assessment — We evaluate study design (RCT vs. observational), sample size, conflict of interest disclosures, and reproducibility. We mark each study as positive, neutral, or negative outcome.
- Conservative language — We use "may help," "studies suggest," and "preliminary evidence indicates" rather than definitive claims. Hydrogen therapy is an emerging field and we reflect that uncertainty.
- Regular updates — Content is reviewed quarterly as new research publishes. All pages show their last-updated date.
Product Testing
For our product reviews and comparison pages, we use dissolved hydrogen meters to independently verify PPM claims. Our testing methodology:
- Minimum 7-day testing period per product
- Dissolved hydrogen measured with calibrated H2Blue reagent drops and digital meters
- Multiple measurements at different water temperatures
- Real-world usage testing (not lab conditions)
Editorial Independence
H2Echelon earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with hydrogen product manufacturers. This means we may earn a commission when you purchase through our links. However:
- Affiliate relationships never influence our research conclusions
- We publish negative findings when the evidence warrants it
- Products are recommended based on testing data, not commission rates
- All affiliate relationships are disclosed per FTC guidelines on our affiliate disclosure page
